We prefer to ignore cutesy promotional gimmicks by companies we cover. But gosh, they’re PENGUINS!

Southwest Airlines announced Thursday that it has a new themed aircraft in its fleet, Penguin One, through its partnership with SeaWorld. The airplane under the paint is a Boeing 737-700.
“SeaWorld has been an important partner to Southwest Airlines for 25 years,” Southwest chairman and CEO Gary Kelly said in ceremonies Thursday morning at the Orlando airport. “Penguin One is a natural addition to the Southwest fleet and a great representation of the evolution of our partnership and our mutual dedication to travel, tourism, and family entertainment.”
Southwest has been painting themed airplanes for a quite a long time, such as Shamu One and Shamu Two in connection with SeaWorld.
Several years ago, it put Israeli model Bar Rafaeli, who looks nothing like a killer whale, on the side of an airplane. There has also been Triple Crown One, introduced back when Southwest was leading the industry in on-time arrivals.
It also honors states with special paint jobs, including Lone Star One for Texas, Arizona One, California One, Colorado One, Florida One, Illinois One, Maryland One, Nevada One and New Mexico One.
Speaking of the birds of honor, Southwest said in an announcement: “The featured penguin species on the aircraft is a gentoo, one of the species found at SeaWorld Orlando’s new Antarctica: Empire of the Penguin. The attraction includes a first-of-its-kind family ride that transports guests into the penguins’ icy world.”

Most penguin parents
share child rearing duties equally, building nests, warming eggs and
foraging for food in turn, according to National Geographic. The main
exception is the male Emperor Penguin, who assumes all parenting duties for up to two months once an egg is laid.
